New whole-board thinking in the nadare



A little preparation is needed. We are not going to talk about new moves as much as new fuseki idea. But there are still some newish moves to look at first.

The marked black move generated a lot of comment in its day. Its first occurrence appears to be down to Hashimoto Shoji in 1963 but it is has become part of the standard repertoire since the mid 1970s. It has been especially popular in the 2000s.

The commonest reply by White has become the one marked with the triangle. But moves A, B and C are also common, and D has been played a fair amount.

A couple of distinguished pros have even tried E and F, but no-one has followed them.
